Benzinger Family Winery
Located just up the hill from tiny downtown Glen Ellen.
My first Winery Tram Tour!
The Benzinger ‘Tractor Biodynamic Tram Tour’ is a MUST! Highly recommend.
A wine safari of sorts.
(Please note: If you don’t like the smell of tractor exhaust take the Tribute Tour in the electric vehicle instead. Also, it is essential you arrive 15 minutes before the Tram Tour. Use the restroom and be ready to go!)
A very unique Sonoma County wine experience.
A tractor pulling a tram filled with happy wine lovers.
The views on this tour are INCREDIBLE! Great photo opportunities.
Plus on this tour you get to stop and see inside the $4million dollar wine cave!
Take kids on this tram tour. They will love it!
Kids are also offered grape juice in the tasting room so adults can taste.
First tram stop is high up on a hill with a view overlooking the massive Benzinger Estate.
Then there’s a stop for chardzies.
The tram takes you right to the cellar for a tour.
Then, drops you off right at the tasting room.
Pours of Cab, Pinot, and more await you.
These tastings are different from the Benzinger wine you might be familiar with in stores.
Their estate wines and small production affiliate vineyard wines are very high quality.
Be sure to check out when tours happen!
There are set times and you don’t want to be late for the tram!
The gift shop is SUPER fun!
Jewelry, cork purses, and lots of wine themed treasures that are fun to peruse.
Best winery gift shop I’ve strolled through yet.
Named Best Winery Tour and Tasting Room 2018 by the People’s Choice Awards Sonoma Tribune.
Benzinger is well known for being Biodynamic
In 1995 Benzinger transitioned from conventional to Biodynamic.
In 2000 the estate became certified as a Biodynamic Farm by the Demeter Association.
Wines that taste great in your glass but are also great for the environment.
The Benzinger property has sheep that remove overgrown cover crop and create the soil.
Scottish Highlander cattle provide manure and serenity to the vineyard.
Home to numerous plants and bugs that help the vines.
Plus the fruits and vegetables are grown for local restaurant the Glen Ellen Star!
After your tour at Benzinger ask for a tasting pass so you can visit their sister winery Imagery.
Head over there for some wine and art!
