Merry Edwards could be called the Queen of Pinot Noir.
Her Pinot Noir clone research was so thorough; a Pinot was named after her.
“Russian River Valley is the “epicenter of great Pinot Noir.”
Her winemaking interest evolved out of her UC Berkeley beer making hobby.
A Berkeley professor suggested she go to UC Davis to further tap into her interest.
Note: If you are not generally fond of Sauvignon Blanc,
Merry Edward’s Sauvignon Blanc may change your mind.
In 2013 (her 40th year of wine making), she received two coveted wine awards:
Inducted into the Culinary Institute of America’s Vintner’s Hall of Fame
And James Beard award for best wine.
